Work
Storytelling has been my passion since my days as a news reporter. More recently, I've been telling the stories of patients, and the dedicated clinicians who've helped them, in small workshops and on large stages. Seeing what it feels like from the "patient's view" strengthens the connection of medical personnel to their own humanity.
Below are some ways I've worked with wonderful organizations.

Stories move minds and hearts
Your teams make miracles happen in your workplace every day. Telling those stories on video - through the eyes of your patients and staff - elevates your vision for your colleagues, board and community.
The annual Patients' View Impact Awards celebrated these miracles, through stories movingly told by patients. In 2017 alone, nearly 70 submissions went through a competitive process to win one of three $1,000 cash prizes (wonderful sponsors made it possible), and the opportunity to attend a prestigious award ceremony in Washington, DC. The providers who partnered to make these healing events possible were honored on-stage as well. See the video here.
For the Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha, Qatar, I was honored to facilitate a workshop encouraging staff to share their own stories of medical care, both patients' and their own. Processing their struggles and questions openly brought about an unprecedented level of unity and understanding, setting the groundwork for the launch of HMC's own patient engagement strategies. I returned to Qatar later in the year to hold an interactive workshop on shared decision-making, illustrating how a shared mental model between clinician and patient can reduce readmissions.
